ULTRAKILL Lore Explained

ULTRAKILL Lore Explained: Blood, God, and Robots with Rage Issues (real)

“MANKIND IS DEAD. BLOOD IS FUEL. HELL IS FULL.”
That's not just a cold open. That’s the whole vibe of ULTRAKILL.

If you’ve ever booted up ULTRAKILL and gone, “What the hell is even going on here?”, you’re not alone. Behind the speedrunning chaos, flashy combos, and brain-melting action is some surprisingly deep, twisted lore. So buckle up—we’re diving straight into the blood-fueled, god-hating, cyberpunk insanity that is the ULTRAKILL timeline.

So… what IS ULTRAKILL?

Quick recap for the uninitiated:

  • You play as V1, a murderbot whose only goal is to find blood to power itself.

  • The setting? A hellscape of Heaven, Hell, Limbo, and everything in between.

  • The vibe? ehh its like doom but has a lower graphic

The Big Picture (Mankind Is Dead, Remember?)

In the distant future, humanity completely nuked itself into extinction. No more humans. Earth? Toast.
But all the machines they left behind? Still kicking. And they need fuel to survive. That fuel? Blood.

That’s where V1 comes in. It's one of those machines—but instead of quietly shutting down, it said:
“lemme clear hell creature first.”

The Layers of Hell (Literally)

ULTRAKILL pulls a lot from Dante’s Inferno, and the game world is structured as Nine Layers of Hell, each themed around sins:

  • Limbo: Where it all starts. Basic enemy hell playground.

  • Lust: Not what you think. It’s about desire—power, blood, chaos.

  • Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, Treachery... yep, it gets darker.

Each layer escalates the enemies, the lore, and the metaphysical implications. Heaven and Hell are fighting. Angels are corrupted. Machines are like, “Let’s just kill everyone.”

Who TF Is V1?

V1 is an enigma. It’s not a human. It’s not a demon. It’s a killing machine.

But some fans believe it’s more than that—like, why does it dream? Why does it keep going beyond its goal?
There are hints that V1 might be gaining consciousness. Or vengeance. Or maybe even... a soul?

im still wondering if human live inside it or what because even tho he is a prototype he is stronk

Gabriel the Judge-Presiding (A.K.A. The Angel With Beef)

Gabriel is ULTRAKILL’s resident angel boi with a serious god complex. Literally.

He thinks he's doing Heaven's will, but he’s slowly unraveling. You fight him multiple times and he starts going from “divine smite” energy to “unhinged righteous fury.”

He eventually betrays Heaven itself, taking matters into his own hands because he believes God has abandoned everything.

That’s right. God? In ULTRAKILL? Silent. Absent. Maybe even dead.

And Gabriel? He’s like, “Fine, I’ll do it myself.” bro think he is the mc

The Lore Gets Deeper (Theories Time)

  • Heaven is corrupted. Angels aren’t pure. They crave control.

  • The machines are more “alive” than angels. V1 is driven by instinct, but not bound by dogma.

  • The blood V1 uses = symbolic of humanity. It’s like machines feeding off the past while rising beyond it.

TL;DR

  • ULTRAKILL looks like chaos, but it’s secretly got layers.

  • Humanity’s gone, blood is fuel, and divine order is breaking.

  • V1 is blood hungry if u think about it

  • Gabriel’s arc is lowkey tragic. Bro just wanted divine purpose fr.

  • The deeper you go, the more it feels like nothing is holy anymore.

ultrakill is a simpel game but if u dig down the lore it is vey VERYY deep

Raden Wijaya: Founder of Majapahit and Designer of a Great Empire

When we speak of legendary heroes in Indonesian history, Raden Wijaya was one of a kind. A fighter and a master strategist rolled into one, he built one of Southeast Asia's greatest empires—the Majapahit Empire. His life was one of ambition, betrayal, and survival, so it is one that merits telling. The Rise of Raden Wijaya Raden Wijaya was born late in the 13th century, when the Singhasari Kingdom governed Java under the mighty and final king of the dynasty, Kertanegara. Raden Wijaya was a court nobleman and an intimate, trusted figure at the Singhasari court. Everything went wrong with the fortunes of Raden Wijaya when the Mongols, under the leadership of Kublai Khan, had set their eyes on Java. Kertanegara had previously insulted the Mongols by not paying tribute, and they responded by sending an invasion fleet to Java in 1293. The Mongols were not yet at Java, however, when the ruler of Kediri, Jayakatwang, seized the opportunity and rose up against Kertanegara. Jayakatwang depo...
